A longtime anti-war, socialist, and labor activist Ike Nahem is the coordinator of Cuba Solidarity New York and a founder of the July 26 Coalition. Nahem is an Amtrak Locomotive Engineer and member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, a division of the Teamsters Union. He participated in a panel on Latin American politics at the 2011 Left Forum. These are his personal political opinions.

    Maybe you should support Cuba and Socialism from within the repressive state that Cuban citizens claim it to be..

    Ike is totally principled in his life long mission to expose the corrupt practices of US Imperialism. He is not an armchair critic. He puts his skin in the game. I also admire his commitment to supporting Cuba, a workers state which has lived through attempted overthrows, assassination attempts, government embargoes. Eighteen countries ganged up on Lenin in 1917—things haven’t changed much 40 years later.
